- Yes, a family came to me at the Travelers Aid desk at Reagan Airport where I volunteered every Friday night while I was working in the DC area! They had come to the airport to check in for their early AM departure on Saturday. Their airline declined to issue boarding passes for their 3 children because their passports had expired! The parents had only gone that day to retrieve them from their safe deposit box. They wanted to know what they could do. They could not get into the passport office on Saturday. They had to wait until Monday, which meant they did not get to fly to their family reunion in the Caribbean until Tuesday. They were distraught.
- Yes, I had a client call from Rome. His passport was stolen. When his call awakened me in the middle of the night, I asked him if he still had his copy…He did. His passport was quickly replaced for him and he was able to return to the USA on time!
- Yes, working at the ticket counter in Philadelphia for Eastern Air Lines. I experienced multiple times where people missed their flights! They missed cruise departures, because any later flights did not get them to the Florida ports in time. Not a fun situation to deal with.
